One of the first things I did to start on this weight loss journey was to cut out certain foods and drinks. I cut out pork, beef, white bread, whole milk, soda and most juices (besides orange and cranberry but still only drink that on occasion) but one of the things I really had to increase was my water intake.
Most of our body is made up of water and there are so many benefits to drinking a lot of water such as clearer skin, more energy and the ability to make you fill more full. (Check the picture below for even more benefits!)
I try to take in about 120 ounces of water a day but it is not easy at all and it leaves you running to the bathroom every 1/2 hour, but it’s worth it. I feel fuller and lighter when I fill up on water opposed to sugary drinks or even food.
I drink a glass of water when I first wake up, before each meal, randomly throughout the day, during my workouts and again before I go to bed.
It has helped me to have a huge bottle (25 fl oz) so that I can measure out how much to drink more effectively. With my bottle I know to drink at least 4 of them by the time I get home from work! The weekends are definitely harder for me when trying to get all of my water in but it’s a must!
To find out how much water you should be drinking, take your weight and multiply by 2/3. Whatever number you get is the amount of ounces to drink. Drink more ounces of water when you are more active that day.
